Drop-in for your first jab this weekend

Thu 01st July 2021

  • Grindon Lane Primary Care Centre,  9am-5pm
  • Houghton Primary Care Centre, 9am – 5pm
  • Millfield Medical Group Practice,  2pm – 5pm
  • Riverview Health Centre, 9am -12pm

Sunday, 4th July 2021 at:

  • Grindon Lane Primary Care Centre, 9am – 12pm
  • Bunnyhill Primary Care Centre, 9am -12pm
  • Riverview Health Centre, 9am – 12pm

Dr Fadi Khalil, local GP and Clinical Lead for the Sunderland Covid Vaccination Programme, said:

“We’re running these drop-in clinics in Sunderland to make it easier for people to just turn up and get their first Covid jab.

“If anyone over 18 hasn’t got around to booking their first vaccine appointment yet, this is the perfect opportunity for them to start to get protected. You’ll have the chance to ask any questions to our experienced vaccinators and clinical leads at each site.”

Gerry Taylor, Executive Director of Public Health and Integrated Commissioning at Sunderland City Council, said:

“With cases of the Delta variant rising rapidly in Sunderland along with the rest of the region, it’s more important than ever to get vaccinated and to take up both doses of the vaccine. I’d encourage anyone over 18 who hasn’t had their first jab to visit one of the drop-in clinics this weekend.

“Being vaccinated continues to offer the best form of protection against Covid. A recent study has also shown that having two doses is highly effective against the Delta strain. So it’s vital that if you haven’t had your first dose of the vaccine yet, you take advantage of one of the drop-in clinics, or if for any reason you can’t make it to one of these, book a vaccination at: It’s also really important when you get your invitation for your second dose that you take this up at the earliest opportunity.”

The clinics are for first doses only.
